“Theatre is a form of knowledge; it should and can also be a means of transforming society. Theatre can help us build our future, rather than just waiting for it.”

About Me

Hello, thank you for taking the time to visit my page!

I’m Edmée Marie Faal (she/her/hers) an artist and theatre-maker in the Washington D.C. area. I was born in D.C. but I had the great pleasure of traveling and living outside of the United States for most of my life.

My passion for theatre intersects with my passion for community engagement, outreach, and activism. I firmly believe in the words of Augusto Boal “Theatre is a form of knowledge; it should and can also be a means of transforming society.” I want to make, create, and facilitate theatrical experiences that diversify the narratives and stories we tell on stage.

Through my experience of working as the 2019 Allen Lee Hughes Intern I was instructed in Voices of Now, Arena Stage’s devised theater for social change program. I also had the great pleasure of completing the British American Drama Academy’s conservatory-style training program. Working with RADA professors, attending workshops with companies like Complicité, and masterclasses with artists like Julian Glover.

In 2021 I graduated from American University with a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Performance and double minors in Literature and Religious Studies. As a recent college graduate, I am excited to pursue new opportunities and collaborate with other artists professionally. If you would like to work together, or just want to connect please feel free to contact me. I’m eager to hear from you!
